Hiram,

When short interest also climbs to new highs, I am not really worried too much about a huge bear market. I will be scared to death when the short interest in an issue like Yahoo! drops from 4.4 mm to less than 0.4 mm.

Even if we are in for a prolonged bear market, we can use covered call writing and some other methods as ways to protect our gains to a certain degree. Also I don't believe that a bear market will last forever.

Hiram:

you said:

Who knows, the lack of fear scares me,is that an oxymoronic view?

Nope, the lack of fear is just a very fundamental contrarian sentiment indicator for a bearish outlook on stocks. I remember in sports, it was when I had fear that I performed my best, and when my fear factor was nil, that I usually ate my shorts. This psychology applys in many places. Looking forward to some more DOW correction, as it refreshes a rational bull.

Regards,
