Alex,
>> I have a hard time believing Rugrats will be so successful. <<

While we don't know if Rugrat will be successful hit. But personally, I really wish it will, not only because I long THQI but this is time to think about the effect of violence games title on today kids. We seen increase school violence lately, children are really imitating characters of Simpson and South Park and I don't think this is good for our society. We should have more game titles, TV program and movie with healthy theme. Unfortunately, violence seems guarantee profitability.

>>I have a hard time believing Rugrats will be so successful. I can't recall many kids games selling like hotcakes.<<

Who would have thought that 'PaRappa The Rapper', definitely a kids' game, would have sold over a million copies? Given its established popularity, I'm looking for Rugrats to do even better, both here and abroad (Japan).

>>I have to say that I am leaning towards investing early next week.<<

On the TA front, the chart is looking a little weak...stochastics and RSI point to a mild overbought condition. I'm looking for a 1-2 point pullback which should present a good buying opportunity to add to or establish a position. However, we may not see the price drift lower...I'm looking to Monday's price movement to be an indicator for the rest of the week. If anyone recalls the discussion on the candlestick patterns that myself and Dennis S. talked about, IMO the hanging man reversal WAS NOT confirmed and therefore the uptrend is still intact, albeit mildly disrupted, all things considered.

If we don't see weakness on Monday, then forget the potential pullback, and forget about selling with the hope of buying back cheaper later in the week. Either we'll base at 23-24.5 or we'll bust thru 24.5. You might want to wait for confirmation on Tuesday though. Even with the weak TA indicators, the opportunity cost of missing a big upward move in THQ far outweighs the reward of squeezing a point out of the stock thru day trading. But, enough surmisal and guesstimating...we'll know much more after Monday's close.

Alex-

Viacom has launched a Rugrats comic strip in the past week or so. I don't know how much this will help sales, but it certainly will increase consumer exposure and awareness. And we still have 7 months until the movie comes out. If the N64 version comes out in Q4, rather than Q1 1999, the year-over-year comparisons for Q4 will be easier.
