I went to this thread to see what trouble James Barrett was trying to get into now, and I happened across a post.
Usually I take things with a grain of salt, and I leave everyone to his own beliefs and expect them to stay out of my face--but this post exudes an arrogance and self-righteousness that took my breath away. Especially because he doesn't see it as either. Of course the post is so full of inaccuracies and strange logic that I would normally laugh, but it involves the teaching and indoctrination of our children and I fight that whether it is a humanist approach on the part of the state or a religious approach by a well-intentioned but ignorant teacher.
So I post this for all of you who believe as I do, that the person responsible for your child's moral and spiritual education and development is the parent and no one else.

From the Ask and Ye Shall Receive thread:(bold type is mine)
The most troubling thing is the removal of God from the schools and daily lives of the Children. My wife is a kindergarten teacher She works at a private school where she is not permitted to even mention God in any context (she cheats anyway!) She has to endure Christmas and Easter goings-on at the school without talking about the real reason for the celebration. This is RIDICULOUS!!! Are our children to hold Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny in higher esteem than Jesus?!? Why does my wife have to constantly risk losing her job by mentioning God?

Even those kids that are taught about Jesus at home and who tell my wife that "on Christmas Day Baby Jesus was born," are not allowed to be responded to. I'm sure this is true at many schools, public and private, all over the U.S. My wife would love to work at a Christian school, but feels that she can, by stealth, work the Message into some of her kids' hearts - kids that would not receive it otherwise.

Why are we told that spreading Your Word is the infringement of others' rights? Please grant our teachers strength to do the right thing - to spread Your Message, to pass on the Good News of our Lord and Saviour - even if it jeapordizes their current positions. Give our leaders wisdom to allow You into the hearts of our children. Help us to drive out this wickedness that has rooted itself so firmly into our society and schools. Help us to raise future generations in Your Name, to love and serve others.
