Quad,

I am a bit nervous about the deferring of NetWare 4.11 sales until NetWare 5 comes as well. From what I see they have not addressed. I know that our internal network has no choice but to upgrade our NetWare 4.1 servers for Y2K compliancy. We will wait until NetWare 5 for this to happen. I think when the numbers for the next quarter or even two quarters come out, we will see NOVL's NetWare sales dip from previous quarters because of this. I do feel that BorderManager and NDS for NT sales will help this dip for the next two quarters until NetWare 5 sales kick in. I think the ZENworks sales will also further boost sales for Q3. But realize that this dip in NetWare sales will be like an elastic band because pent-up upgrade sales will blast off.

I mentioned this a couple times on previous SI and Yahoo postings. Because of the Y2K upgrade requirement, ppl will wait for NetWare 5 even if NOVL offered a free upgrade for all 4.11 sales from now until NetWare 5 is released. Why, most large shops would rather only upgrade once! So, maybe that is why NOVL is not making a big issue on this deferred NetWare sales. But I still think they should apply lip service to their customers by openly offering it.

PS - I finally broke down and paid for my SI subscription.
