A few rheumatoid arthritis patients in one of the Avakine studies developed lymphoma. However, the incidence of lymphoma in patients with autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis is higher than in the general population, so the lymphoma was probably related to their underlying immune disturbance rather than the Avakine.
