For me, I usually trade options. This is where I obtain the volitility and short term price movement from the option itself instead of the underlying stock. So in this way I can make good short term trades with very good returns on the slow moving stocks. In this particular approach, I look for a stock with good sized float and good volume. I look for the slower but predictable moves that has shown signs of accumulation over a period of time. It appears that the premium on the options of this type of stock tends to be undervalued compared to its more volitile counterparts in the market, which is to my advantage.

I am just offering an alternative view that you may find interesting in relationship to this conversation. I am not suggesting that we look for such stocks. I see we have *stock* day traders here anyways. But I am still interested in following the trading activity, importantly the accumulation and distribution, that happens in various sectors.
