here is my zen of short term prediction for monday: (1) the markets will open monday gap down from friday (2) by the close the markets will be down even more from the open

musicguy, have you noticed the zen of threads on si? having followed many of them, i now find i can sometimes do a quick zen evaluation of a stock by looking at the tone of the messages on the thread. if there are many messages about hopes for publicity in the media, the stock is probably a looser that will go nowhere for a long time. if the people are really upbeat because their stock is going up, it will probably keep going up. if shorts have entered the thread and there is vitriolic argument, the stock is about to tank. any kind of arguing or bickering in a thread seems to bode poorly for the near term movement of a stock. know it alls who have followers often don't know much. it is quite interesting to note the number of messages per day on a thread. there tend to be fewer and fewer as the price drops. when it recovers everyone is back posting. it would be fascinating to refine this technique.
