This investing...trading ...gambling is bound to stir up emotions. They say you should learn to master your emotions or they will adversely affect other parts of your life. Humour seems to be the best weapon for this and as you say stepping back and taking another look! It's more natural to be long and a 'cheerleader" and I do respect the shorts because to be successful it takes a different kind of outlook and discipline, especially if you accept the definition of the market as a "random walk with a 10 to 12% positive inclination".
