carl

i am glad you brought that up because some of us on Tech stock options are confused about all of the ramifications of this currency intervention.

as per "the ugly bond lady" on cnbc....weak dollar leads to worries about inflation....and whacks out the market....

yet a weak dollar brings yen to the US to safe havens..which is supporting the bond market...

there was a rumor going around that asia bought a bought load of bonds in feb (or march) and was prepared to attack the US if we attacked their currency....

and look at Rubin ...he came in to support the yen!

currency in not something I have a handle on and this whole thing is messing with my mind.....

so what is the deal with the yen coming to the US for the safe haven....
versus
your scenario that you are talking about

<<<i'm surprised there isn't more reaction here to the BOJ selling off the dollar.>>>

Same here, that looks like a pretty solid smack. these charts , I don't think show last nights intervention.

Lisa, I think the bonds move the same way as the buck. One way to raise the value of the yen is to sell US dollar denominated assets and then convert the us bucks to yens.

Hi carl hittle; Regarding Rubin supporting the BOJ on yen support.
Sort of reminds you of that weekend 10 years ago when
Baker told the Germans he would let the dollar slide...

Just asked somebody else carl -- so I'll ask you. What is the significance of Rubin supporting the move? This seems more important to me than the actual selling of dollars. What do you think?
