Barry, I think the price of US support for the yen was the 4 trillion yen, US$30 billion tax cut.

the threat was to sell US bonds that were bought either in Feb or March (i cant remember) of THIS year....
IF someone attacked the Japanese currency with US backing...

as per Ron Insana on Ticker Talk on CNBC this week...with the hint that the bonds were bought for this specific purpose....

(i think he said there was an article in the Wall Street Journal about this....but I am not for sure)
