United Semi Signs Five-Year Deal To Make Wafers For Advanced Micro

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -(Dow Jones)- Advanced Micro Devices Inc. said its
Vantis unit signed a five-year wafer manufacturing agreement with United
Semiconductor Corp.
Financial terms weren't disclosed.
The chip maker (AMD) said United Semiconductor, which operates a
semiconductor manufacturing plant in Taiwan, will use process technology
to make a high performance chip product family for Vantis.
The agreement also covers other technologies for future Vantis
products.
United Semiconductor is a joint venture between S3 Inc. (SIII),
United Microelectronics Corp. and Alliance Semiconductor Corp. (ALSC)
