4.7% unemployment, $50B, maybe $75B SURPLUS THIS YEAR!!

Do you seriously believe that we have MSFT and Bill Gates to thank for the current state of the US economy or was that grin in your first line intended to be applied to the second line as well? I'm just waiting for the day that MSFT starts printing their own proprietary currency. Of course, early versions of the currency will be horribly buggy. However, that'll all be fixed when they "embrace and extend" a competing currency :-)

On a more serious note, I do believe that in many (but not all) cases MSFT stifles, rather than promotes, innovation. It also amazes me that such a reactionary company can perform so well. Of course, that's the advantage that having a near-monopoly can give you.

Don't be to quick to count on a surplus this years. That would have come from the tobacco deal which congress has managed to screw up. Interested parties should look at the MO thread.
