What a shame it took the people on the PdJ mailing list 2 years to agree with you. What a waste of bandwidth...

Couldn't agree more... unfortunately it's a solid indication of how long it takes for the majority of people to get their brains around the substance of Y2K.

Sad but true, lots of otherwise intelligent people are quite happy to chase red herrings down rabbit holes.

Now if it took the "insiders" on the PdJ list two years to gum the BIOS issue to death, how much will it take to set the record straight for Bob Businessman.

I think the press has done serious damage to the Y2K issue by attempting to 'dumb down' the explainations so Joe SixPack can grok the issues. I go nuts whenever someone uses "You're VCR might not work." as an example... all that does is convince the listener that Y2K is a hoax.
