Yup, inertia IS compelling. <vbg> Sounds to me like you'd be happier in Northern California. We have something resembling the traditional changing of the seasons up here, and it's lots cooler up here than it is down there, at least most of the time. You can even have snow on a moment's notice, if that's your thing. Just ask Mike. He'll arrange it.

I fled the crowds and the smog and the everpresent white hot glare of the Southland nearly 11 years ago for a sleepy seaside hamlet on the Carquinez Straits. I've been back down there twice, the last time was in 1994, and it was even worse than it was when I left. I honestly don't see how anybody would live down there by choice.

My sleepy hamlet was "discovered" in 1991 when the SF Chronicle's front page announced that it the best town in the Bay Area for family living, and it's been going downhill ever since. Something up in Mendocino or Humboldt Counties seems very inviting about now.
