Moot, I agree with your assessment of SH. I've posted the same opinion here and there many times. SH is a very good example of a cult - mob psychology rules at all times. Anyone who can't see that is probably a member of the cult. Please keep posting your opinions here even if a few pinheads complain because their attention spans preclude them from reading more than a couple of sentences at at time. It's up to you and me and Marcos and the others who care about reason to keep the discussion balanced. There are lots of educated lurkers who enjoy a good argument and who know that this is not a black and white affair. Cheers.

Moot, You speak as I would like to speak and say what I feal. Which bring me to an old addage which I would like to direct to so many who in the heat of the moment may make statements which are questionable for sure.

This one came from my Grandfather many years ago and is as follows;

"Now that we know what you think, tell us what you know."

Moot,

I don't believe you spent enough time on SH unless you're simply suffering from selective memory loss. No one was removed from a thread simply because they were labelled as a 'short' a 'spy', a 'liar' etc.

The only posters I am aware of that were removed were those who were in breach of the stated terms of use (e.g. excessive number of posts, off topic and detracting from the common enjoyment of the rest of the users etc. There were individuals who were simply name calling or making wise cracks in rapid fire succession over the entire day. This kind of abuse is intolerable and has nothing to do with free speech. This kind of abuse should also not be tolerated from any individual whether long, short or undecided. I am aware of a number of occassions where a particularly irritating 'long' was warned that he would be removed if his posting habits did not change.

I take offence at your suggestion that I should study the history of Nazi Germany in order become better informed regarding the actions of fascism. I have (had) relatives that know first hand what it was like to live and die under fascist Germany. Any comparison you may be trying to make here is a ridiculous stretch.

Just because someone can type, has an internet account and thinks they have something to say, doesn't mean they should have the right to say it anywhere, anytime without consequences (that includes me).

Enough waste of bandwidth... please don't respond. I'll get off my soap box and you might do well to do the same.
