I haven't tried the onion rings in years, and wasn't aware that anyone else even offered them. Since we're on the subject of food quality, I'd like to ask all you JITB fans out there what you think about the new french fries now that they've been out for over a year. At first I liked them, but now I can't even eat them anymore. Why? Because they taste too much like crispy grease and not enough like potatoes. Or is that potatos? ;-)

When Burger King (yes I do check out the competition once in a while--strictly for research, of course) switched to their version of crispy fries, they were even more repellant to me. I have just gotten tired of the new and improved crispiness, because for me, it's taken away from the flavor, and just improved the texture. My favorite fries at a quick service restaurant that I've tried are the crinkle fries served at Del Taco. They are full of potato flavor and not too greasy. I'm sure there are others (I used to like the wedge fries from Wendys (?) years ago). Does anyone else share this opinion? Fries can make or break a quick service restaurant. I know that JITB claimed they were preferred in taste tests before they were introduced.

As always, do your own research!

Disclaimer: my favorite restaurant is still Soup Plantation--healthier than most, but with plenty of guilty pleasures (creamy clam chowder, great chocolate brownies)
