Hi Bobby -

There is a slope down which a society can fall which ensures that all people will be either slaves of the State or wards of the State. I am a slave who knows he is a slave. Now our children are born with an obligation to the state and we have guaranteed future obligations which ensure they will be our slaves for life. It is this concept of man as a slave of the State which allowed our govt to send so many men to Vietnam under penalty of their freedom, including a disproportionate number of those who were the descendants of slaves. There is a concept which has been lost, and that is that under law, I am born with the right to Life and Liberty, and the law presumes these rights to be endowed me by my creator. Now I find that the State has assumed itself to be my creator.

It is an interesting exercise to visit the library and look into the eyes of the men who lived in this country in the last century and especially those who fought for the survival of their homeland . Because nowhere else can one any longer look and find the eyes of men. Look around and you will see only the eyes of slaves.

Perhaps that which was achievable once upon a time is no longer achievable in our world. I do not disagree with the principle and necessity of helping people, but feel there is destruction in the concepts we use and the way they are practiced. The concept of an "entitlement" presumes that another individual has acquired an obligation without his consent, to wit by force. There is no good reason for the evil and suffering which exists in our society. Most of it has its roots in the behavior of the individual, and in a system of politics which patently encourages complete dependence upon the State, so that at last a man's slavery is complete, and he takes his brother down with him.

Sorry for the digression.
