try is to avoid placing an order at an 'even' price.

Thanks, I usually trade on market orders, but on that day I had four trades I wanted to do near the close, so I decided to place a market order instead. I have never had this problem before. In fact I usually place my limited 1/16 above the even number because quite often the market over-runs that number when the big rush of orders comes in at the close.
Oh well..Lesson Learned.
