This is getting to be circular. I put that on the Dalton thread based on reply number 6 on this thread.

Hi Sam,

Glad to see you following this play. My understanding is that they should be drilling into the top of the Leduc structure late this week (shall we assume the 18th?) IF the zone comes in on prognosis and IF there are NO problems with bits, drill pipe, the rig, a mud pump, the hole, etc., etc., etc..

Now first of all, wouldn't that NO PROBLEM situation be unusual in the real world??

Anyway, after they hit the top it will take them roughly 2 weeks of drilling to get through both the Leduc and the Swan Hills formations.

Then they will have to condition the hole for logging.

And then, they will have to log.

And then, IF they have any promising log indications (in the Nisku, or in the Leduc, or in the Swan Hills) they may want to run drill stem test(s).

And then, they should be in a position to make an announcement that won't put their Directors and Officers at too much risk!!

My point is, let's not get to excited if we don't get a press release next week. A more realistic timing may be sometime around May 11.

P.S.-- Has anyone stopped to think about how long it actually takes to pull 2.8 miles of drill pipe out of the hole if you only pull out 60 feet at a time (ie. when you trip for a bit, etc.)??

Now double up that time and you have your own estimate of how long it will take to round trip a bit!!
