From TMF IPO board: Subject: Re: FYI Author: AnthonyI Date: 4/11/98 12:30:55 PM (ET) To All: **FYI: Down below are some good research links... For those of us contemplating the Broadcom IPO, here's what I have learned as of late: Apparently, Morgan Stanley will increase the pricing from the original $10-$12 dollar range to $18-$20. I called my Fidelity broker last night and he found the news release from Morgan Stanley. This is in contrast to the latest News Alert posting of the 9 April 1998 IPO Diary, newsalert.com which still puts the offering at $10-$12 with a pricing date of 15 April (Wednesday). However, it seems that Morgan Stanley changed up on us some time after this Reuters release. All I can say is I haven't found anything concrete on the web, but I'm pretty certain that the increase is true. What does this mean? Morgan Stanley knows that this is a hot IPO. My broker was actually shocked by the large increase. Some people are looking at this as a bad thing...and I can see that. I was hoping to get in as low as possible, see a spike, and drink a toast. This move raises the bar prematurely. ("Hey, they cheated!") But actually, on the other hand, think of it this way. This is a great thing for our company, Broadcom. They're going to make out better than they expected, which means that this will make their business that much stronger. It's really a good thing for them, so for anybody looking long term, I think it can be a good thing for the share holders. Unless...we're way overvalued. Then we may see the classic dip in after-IPO price before we begin climbing again. But I think that in the long term, these beginning fluctuations will fade away, when this stock is up a couple of hundred percent in couple of years. (maybe wishful thinking, but I'm confident.) If you want in, the best way is to stay on top of the news every day next week, staring on Sunday night, and contact your broker in the wee pre-market hours of the morning it trades public to set up your position. For those who aren't sure about the potential of this company, I have some good links for you. Most are from the Red Herring Online, but this company is certainly a winner.
