Dear VHS (1?) Is it at all possible that in the large continugent of servants, maintenance men, pool keepers, whatever, including soldiers, that just one of the just might have been one of the thousands recorded that to that day were followign Jesus everywhere?
Or that this was stated in a near public place in front of many witnesses. We're not talking cave men here. We are talking a very advanced civilitization actually. Not grunting cave men at all.

John trotted along side Jesus when Jesus was first arrested, and apparently from what he himself writes, was only thrown out when they decided to throw him out. He is recorded as then seeing peter at the fire. Peter, who had just lopped off the ear of a Roman soldier--PUNISHABLE INSTANTLY BY DEATH--WAS STILL HANGING AROUND THE YARD. IN FULL VIEW, IN PERHAPS THE MOST DANGEROUS SITUATION ANY MAN HAS EVER FOUND HIMSELF IN.

If we are to believe the ear was quickly put back on, it would have been so that there was no evidence of any incident, and all involved would be so stunned with shock the problem of Peter was quickly forgotten.

A coward, as we like to portray Peter, I believe would have been still running into the countryside at the time John was thrown out by the Romans and found Peter quite defiantly in the middle of the demons themselves. Warming himself over a fire,
fully visible to all. Hardly the act of a coward. Au contraire.

I do not throw stones at Peter. Never, ever. Three times probably happened. It fulfilled a strange scripture. But one only wrote about 2. Does it matter? Both of these men I love with a passion,by the way. Their bravery is without compare. We are talking the Romans. In 33 AD. They absolutely craved suffering and blood. They were all weaned on it, and given it as recreation. And Peter and James were not old nobles like the English have somehow implanted in our minds.

They were originally blue collar, tough young fisherman when they threw down their nets, left their fathers and ran after Jesus.

I think you can see many things in the Bible if you look. I'm very glad you are looking. What does the fact of 3 and 2 mean to you?
Does it matter, and if so, why?

><>..Hi BVH,The denials of Peter were three as recorded in John..><>

Peter's first denial;
John 18:15-18
15 And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple: that disciple was known unto the high priest, and went in with Jesus into the palace of the high priest.
16 But Peter stood at the door without. Then went out that other disciple, which was known unto the high priest, and spake unto her that kept the door, and brought in Peter.
17 Then saith the damsel that kept the door unto Peter, Art not thou also one of this man's disciples? He saith, I am not.
18 And the servants and officers stood there, who had made a fire of coals; for it was cold: and they warmed themselves: and Peter stood with them, and warmed himself.

Peter'second And Third denial;
John 18:25-27
25 And Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. They said therefore unto him, Art not thou also one of his disciples? He denied it, and said, I am not.
26 One of the servants of the high priest, being his kinsman whose ear Peter cut off, saith, Did not I see thee in the garden with him?
27 Peter then denied again: and immediately the cock crew.

Hope this clears things up.

Have blessed Resurrection day
Shalom...><>
