Another board member with some influence (though not in the same league as the big three)is Ed Romero. Democratic National Committee member and ambassador to Spain nominee. He has ties to Al Gore and Pena. Though Pena is leaving DOE, virtually all of the key positions at DOE HQ are held by political appointees. I agree that the value of Nunn, et al, is the abilty to open doors. My company employs a retired Army general. He doesn't get us work, but he helps us to have the opportunity to present our qualifications to the decision-makers. It may not be the "fair" way to gain a competitive edge, but it is the way government contracting works these days.
