Carol, I am so sad to hear about your cousin!!!

People think smoking is important to them, but in reality they have become addicted to nicotine, and that is what is essential about the smoking habit. Even after I quit, it was quite awhile before I stopped craving the nicotine rush.

My father smoked a pack a day for many, many years, and even though he quit about fifteen years ago, now he has to use an oxygen tank sometimes to breathe, because his lungs are all screwed up. So I know how devastating it is to watch a family member pay the price for smoking.

I read today that 3,000 children a day will begin smoking. One third of those will eventually die prematurely of a smoking-related illness. Not only that, but smoking has actually become more popular among teenagers as more adults have quit.

Should we cry now or at her funeral?
