All: Here is a post by Bob Grutza showing Japanese cap ex for FY 1998 at $6.6b.

Upon reflection, I have to admit that the story I posted is puzzling. The
Bloomberg piece states that each one of the Japanese five are cutting spending at least
20% with the exception of NEC which is spending the same as last year. So it is hard to imagine Japanese spending cuts totalling 13% using VLSI figures
($1.15b/$8.9b) or 17.42% using SEMI numbers ($1.15b/$6.6b). Any thoughts?
