Pancho, often when I have contemplated shorting Internet stocks and other high fliers, I looked at the chart and decided not to. TA is a good way to see if a fundamentally bad company has broken yet. Without TA, you are just fighting the tape. It's also a good way to know when to take a quick profit. My two shorts in YHOO were break even and then a profit, because I watched the short term trends and set my stops accordingly. Also, a broken down stock may show signs of life with the fast stochastics hooking at the bottom of the scale - another caution light.

It's not 100% right all the time, but it is a useful weapon to have in your arsenal.

Pancho, I am just curious, besides fundamental reasons to
short a stock, do you engage in any technical charting ...<

No but perhaps I should.

Pancho:
I think just adding a crossing of a moving average (25 day
or 50 day or whatever) probably will eliminate some of those
that are overvalued but getting into more overvalued ...
On the other hand, I do not read any of the stuff that you read,
because I plainly don't know what the hell it means.

Have a good day, Pancho.
