As far as I know you are not forced to buy Lucent, but you were given three years period during which you can change your holdings
to one of the available funds in the plan. There few options available
but they can't hold the individual stocks.

That could very well be, but that was the way it was explained to me. Maybe the person meant they had to get out of AT&T's retirement plan and get into Lucent's... Good luck everyone.
