That same type of fear/paranoia has been a hallmark of the likes of Microsoft, Cisco, and Intel (whose CEO wrote an entire book about it: "Only the Paranoid Survive") over the years.

The real killers of YAHOO are Microsoft's Start and Netscape's Netcenter. Microsoft will kill Yahoo like it did to netscape.
