"It's EMC's proprietary software" Bill, At this point in time I believe that EMC has not had significant penetration of their prorpietary sofware capabilities ... at least the ones that create lockin. Where I work, we have over 10 terabytes of EMC Symmetrix. At this point we could fairly easily substitute products from IBM/STK, Hitachi and others for Open storage .... that is, until we bite the hook. Do you have any infor about the success of the proprietary penetration? If they get this, IMO, they're a lockin gorilla. Larry
