(INTC) The 1998 Intel New York Music Festival to Be Held From July 15-18, 1998; World's Largest Music Festival Takes Over Downtown Manhattan And The Internet at www.intelfest.com

NEW YORK--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--April 13, 1998--Intel Corporation, together with festival co-executive producers Andrew Rasiej and Michael Dorf, today announced that the second Intel New York Music Festival will be held July 15-18, 1998.

The Festival will bring together more than 300 bands performing throughout a network of 20 downtown Manhattan clubs which will be cybercast worldwide on the Internet at www.intelfest.com.

Artist Information

Artists that wish to play at this year's Intel New York Music Festival must complete a "Band Submission Form" which is located at the festival website. This will help to expedite the booking process. The bands that are booked to play will be given the opportunity to submit a digitized photo of their band, digitally uploaded samples of their music, and any biographical information that will reside on their own festival page.

As the most ambitious music event ever undertaken on the Internet, the Festival site will feature live streaming audio from all of the venues, with streaming video and audio from five clubs every night of the festival. In addition, one 24 hour audio and video channel will highlight archived performances from the previous night. Fans from around the world are invited to participate in the Festival by logging on to the official festival Web site throughout the four-day event.

"The PC enables musicians to utilize technology to sell their product, deliver new experiences, interact with their fans and strengthen their brand," said Claude Leglise, vice president, Content Group, Intel Corporation. "This fundamental change presents the music industry with enormous opportunities for promotion, distribution and merchandising while providing a high quality experience for consumers."

Attendee Information

Festival passes, which include admission to the live performances at all participating clubs during the four days, will be available beginning in June on the Internet at the festival website. Passes will be priced at $40 and also include admission to eight special performances exclusively available to Festival pass holders.

"Music fans, whether they attend the Festival in person or online, are in for a real treat as they experience four days of live performances from several of the world's legendary music clubs," said Michael Dorf, co-executive producer of the festival. "The Festival has quickly become a 'must-attend' event for the music industry, while simultaneously fostering the synergy between music and technology."

"Last year's festival was one of the most successful music gatherings in history, and this year, we're putting the pieces in place to make it the largest," said Andrew Rasiej, co-executive producer of the festival. "What began as a pioneering event for fans in New York has become a global showcase for a diverse range of musical talent and the most innovative entertainment technologies available."

Intel will be managing the online portions of the event from "command central" which will be housed in lower Manhattan. The state-of-the-art location will deliver a full array of multimedia selections to online festival attendees. Among the features planned for the festival website are live chats with the artists, behind-the-scenes photos, and exclusive audio and video interviews. Other website features will be announced closer to the festival.

Festival operations being directed from the event headquarters include all Web site mastering, monitoring, editing, artist interviews and archive playback.

Bands appearing last year included Better Than Ezra, Cracker, Jill Sobule, Ween, Offspring and Combustible Edison.
