Significant *new* AAPL share purchases for quarter ending 12/31/97:

via O'Neills

Fidelity - 1,158,933
Columbia - 1,080,000
Cowen - 115,620

Not as timely or comprehensive as I would like but the early interest by *Fidelity* is a harbinger of what I think will prove to be far more significant purchases by them in 1Q/98.

Study the collapsing of Wang computer company carefully before you
talk.

Not only I have known well on Wang Lab, but also any computers in
U.S., namely, datapoint, Interdata, CDC, Cray, etc. I have graduated the
same school as Wang's founder, therefore, I have pretty understood
what they went wrong in '80's. I rather compaer Apple to DEC for its
pattern.
