[ Ha ha ha. Think it is fairly likely that the planes will work just fine while the FAA's air traffic control systems are totally ****ed up. ]

FAA has its own enormous year 2000 repair project underway with the most critical portion being the air traffic control system.

With over 250 different computers making up the air traffic control system, the FAA has been behind the government's own
deadlines in checking and fixing 23 million lines of computer code.

FAA administrator Jane Garvey has stressed safety will not be compromised and if necessary fewer planes will fly while the system is repaired.

But new FAA Y2K Program Office Director Ray Long has shortened the air traffic control repair schedule by several months and is now examining other external FAA responsibilities like aircraft regulation and certification.
