Now this is hard to believe? This week's third annual Microsoft Internet Banking and Brokerage Conference may not herald the software giant's domination of financial services--but it will undoubtedly mark the next crucial step in the company's play to woo banks and brokers.

internetworld.com:80/print/current/news/19980413-stalled.html

Smith of Current Analysis said he "hasn't seen an amazing amount of progress" in getting banks and billers on board with MSFDC, and the reason, he said, is that the idea of giving titans Microsoft and First Data further leverage over processing and billing data "really spooks the banks." ............. means that this week's announcements will largely focus on building a closer relationship with Integrion, the bank consortium that is seen as Microsoft's rival. The consortium, established about a year and a half ago, is made up of about 20 banks plus IBM, and seeks to promote standards and products.

Looks like they are giving up already! Wonder if their is an outside shot CheckFree gets a ten year outsourcing argreement with MSFDC or else a full partner to backend for them?
