Yes, essentially you did imply such a claim.

I don't play with words here. You are right that it DOESN'T matter how I classify "potential". I can't, however, change reality. Reality dictates that when a position is unsold- the current listed value is in FACT only Potential value. If at any given moment you see a price and decide to sell, there is no guarantee that you will receive the price you were just quoted. That is reality even for daytraders.

Potential is a reality, and it can be the basis of an investing philosophy, just as you say. But unrealized potential is just that- unrealized- until a position is sold- no matter what you or I think are the prospects of anything! No word games- just the facts.
