Just got a copy of a report on Cisco by DlJ dated April 9th.

Investment summary:

" We found Cisco management to be upbeat in our meeting with them yesterday and would emphasize the following points:
Relative to the management's tone one year ago the company is more upbeat. This is significant as the April quarter is seasonally Cisco's weakest. If conditions were as difficult as they were last year at this time we would expect greater emphasis on risk factors. The low end appears to building momentum for Cisco. This is critical to our growth rate assumption of 30% over the next two years.

In the first inning of "alliance jockeying" in the service provider market it appears that Cisco is closer to Northern Telcom than Lucent. But remember this is only the first inning......

Management's tone was upbeat, especially relative to last year at this time......

Typical of Cisco, the company did stress some risk factors as well. Management had just returned from Japan, were it found no reason for optimism. Meetings withe large customers were described as glum, and in general there were no signs that conditions will improve in that market any time soon......

The low end appears to be in high gear, both for the enterprise and the Small to Medium-size business. This has become a major focus of the company; dictating vast number of selling resources, targeting specific product development to this segment and channel incentive programs...."

The report goes on for awhile but was very upbeat. It looks like they will have a better than normal 3rd quarter!

Gary Cisco's sales are really taking off in Europe and that should be the earnings surprise that we are looking for.

Regards

Eric

P.S. Got this report from a friend of mine at Piper Jaffray.
