I got that tip from either ZDNET or CNET and they advised using the ISDN pack to speed connection. I can't document that, but it certainly hasn't hurt - I've used it since Feb '97 with problems and I've used at least a dozen different ISP's during that time. The icon tells you how long you have been connected, what speed and how much you have downloaded. (It's also way cooler.)

When I reloaded my software during my hard drive cleanup I had to reinstall it.

My Norton Utilities has a built-in Internet Speedometer and get this - it has stayed the same since I installed Netsonic. That makes sense because that program really just uses cache to give the appearance of speed.
