800 Travel Systems up on Internet buzz
NEW YORK, April 13 (Reuters) - 800 Travel Systems Inc. rose sharply Monday as the stock appeared to benefit from investors' continued enthusiasm for Internet-related issues.
Jesse Shelmire of Dallas-based First London Securities, the firm that underwrote the 800 Travel Systems initial public offering in January, said the company's board last week reiterated its commitment ''to becoming a player in the Internet travel business.''

The stock rose 2-9/32 at 9-1/4 Monday, a 33 percent gain. Shelmire said that a key factor fueling its rise was investor enthusiasm for stocks perceived as Internet plays.

The Tampa, Fla.-based company sells low-priced airline tickets through its toll-free telephone numbers, and also has a Web site.
