i think it's been made fairly obvious that Innovacom will not have the first single chip MPEG2 encoder (or encoder/decoder) on the market. doesn't mean they won't get some of the pie though. m.

Technically speaking, (single chip encoder) it depends upon what level of compression you want to compare as to weather or not Cube or Innovacom have the "FIRST" single chip (HDTV) encoder. Symantics....... Anyway, still waiting for some feedback from our attendees. GEorge

encoder dude, pie is big enough for everyone. And yes ,it does depend what your definition of a "true" single chip encoder is. I would imagine instead of trying to figure out whos first or second it would be wise to figure out who they are going to sell it too?? No one manufacturer can possibly supply a market of this size. CUBE,MPEG,Sony,Phillips,etc... are all going to make some serious money going forward. Innovacom is well positioned thus far,but needs to make some positive announcements such as contracts or chip completion to get share price moving. Press releases about management additions are good for shareholder confidence,but can only take them so far. alex(waiting for chip)
