Dear Thos:

Thanks for your comments on the 6000 chip and its disposition.

One of the things that has interested me about firms working in the computer industry, is that their assets are difficult to judge at times. This seems to be due to the fact that much of their value is wrapped up in IP, intellectual property. It would seem easy to pump up liabilities with all the accounting gimmickry, but how do you post IP on the balance sheet? Is it truthful to say that actually IP is the most valuable stock and trade for firms in the modern computer industry? If it is true, how does the IP created and applied by IMS stack up for a start-up company (leaving R&D status)?

Another point of interest for your readers:

I glanced at stock and stock option listings for the two former company directors who are heading up the IPIQ attempt at our company. Their equity in the company was very modest compared to others on the board as of the report I read from last year. How is it that these relative newcomers amassed such influence with such little equity in the firm? There were several shareholders with far greater equity than these guys!

Look forward to hearing from you again when time permits.
