SF Fed's report--U.S. stock mkt levels "very high"

By Jose Paulo Vicente

NEW YORK, April 13 (Reuters) - U.S. stock market levels are currently very high, suggesting investors no longer see equities as a relatively risky bet, a senior official at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco said in a report.

''Even without a further earnings squeeze in 1998, the level of the stock market is very high,'' Jack Beebe, director of research at the San Francisco Fed wrote in a report published Monday on the bank's World Wide Web site.

''It's quite likely that investors no longer see equities as relatively risky and that we have entered a new era of high P/Es (price/earnings ratio) that could extend for some time,'' he said, adding that the Japanese stock market fit the same profile before 1990.

anyone suggestion on shorting of NETA software or the Internet Phone of Level 3 both seem to ready for a massive correction.

I feel NETA is the weaker one with all the acquired companies it needed a few quarter to digest.

But that was my reasoning for shorting GTW too, and it went up and up with PC price keep droping down and down.

Very interesting market, I think spring brings on the Tulip mania right.

Panch & friends - With the triggers going into effect and a 10 -15 %minimum correction due, does anyone have recommendations on Internet (Yahoo) Puts or Y2K (Zitl)Puts that would maximize profit for the least cost.

I truly believe were no more than two weeks away, but my timing sticks. I get lost reading the Kahuna Thread on Options.
