The numbers you have listed look like health related offices to me. Your Columbia number is a physician.

Air Pollution - Health Effects
Robert Marino M.D.
737-4170

The one I prefer is

Air Quality Permits
Carl Richardson
734-4750

Air Quality Construction Plans Review
Carl Richardson
734-4750

Another is

Air Quality Standards Enforcement
Dick Sharpe
734-4539

Air Quality Compliance
Dick Sharpe
734-4539

As you can see, it is easy to call and get the wrong person at the wrong office. Just because somebody we talk to doesn't know anything about the GRNO permit process doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Charles

Ned:

To save you some legwork, these are the folks who are involved in the day to day operations at DHEC which approve Air Quality permits.

Robbie Brown-DHEC Air QUality engineer assigned to GRNO--803-734-4528
His supervisor: Carl Richardson 803-734-4545. They are the thoroughfare through which such an application must pass.

I repeat what these gentlemen told me last week.

THERE IS NO CURRENT, PENDING APPLICATION FOR GOE TO INCREASE IT'S
FEEDSTOCK RATE TO 1000 GPH.

NOrm, maybe there is a problem with definitions here. As you implied, maybe until they get all the information they requested from GOE, the application is not CURRENT or PENDING. The question I pose is: Why not? Why is there information that they still need? Why can't they get it? Does it not exist? DOes it cost too much to provide? Have they been given it but don't like the font? WHAT IS GOING ON? DHEC told me that there would be a public comment period and application review period similar to the last permit approval process; we would then be at least 60 days away from approval EVEN AFTER THE APPLICATION WAS COMPLETE (whatever that means, Norm.)

This has been going on since January. DHEC told me back then that there was information they still wanted. I agree with Charles' assessment that a non-functioning processor is bad for potential clients, and worse, has delayed the proof of "full throttle" reliability.

Whatever the outcome of the DHEC matter, I still remain hopeful regarding the AMBIX and Turkish matters. Hopeful is different than optimistic, Charles. I have faith in a technology that can do some real good, but seems to be blocked by forces beyond my control.

And besides, what are the options besides hope?

Robert
