I am not a dentist, but I was in the chair this morning. While waiting for the novocain to take hold, I asked the dentist if he 1) knew about the laser drill, and 2) would use one in his practice? His reply, summarized: Yes, he knew of it, but no, he would not get one for his office. The technology is primarily for treatment of early-stage decay in the enamel layer of the tooth...conditions found primarily in young patients. Might make sense if he were treating 10+ children a day, but definitely not in an environment of old filling replacement, reconstruction, etc (adult dental problems). The cost of the system would not be worth the little use it would get. I inquired about this because I have been considering PLSIA. I am not long or short on this, nor have I ever been. I urge everyone on the thread to go ask YOUR dentist's reaction. I would certainly be interested in other responses.
