SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 14, 1998--CBS Newspath has launched a new, enhanced daily business report for television.

The report is produced in conjunction with CBS MarketWatch, the Network's online business information service, said John Frazee, vice president of News Services for CBS News, and Larry Kramer, chief executive officer and president of CBS MarketWatch.

The report, presented by CBS MarketWatch Correspondent Betsy Karetnick, offers timely information -- including breaking news -- targeted to the savvy individual investor. Karetnick also provides a daily CBS MarketWatch business segment to UP TO THE MINUTE, CBS News overnight broadcast.

The new daily CBS Newspath feature includes graphics driven by the CBS MarketWatch database, which provides the most accurate up-to-the-minute market information on the World Wide Web at CBS.MarketWatch.com. The reports include a West Coast update when business news warrants.

"This is a natural for us," said Kramer. "Our financial news on the Web is as real-time as it gets and is a perfect fit for CBS television reports, and business coverage on CBS affiliates."

Future plans include business report live shots for CBS affiliates morning news broadcasts, which can also take advantage of the exclusive CBS MarketWatch graphics that track the most active stocks in that station's market.

Affiliates will have the opportunity to cross-promote the daily CBS MarketWatch report with the CBS MarketWatch Web site (cbs.marketwatch.com) and their own locally reported business information. Karetnick brings a wealth of business reporting experience to CBS MarketWatch.

"I have seen Betsy do it all: live market reports, CEO interviews, breaking business news. She's a pro among pros," said Thom Calandra, editor-in-chief of CBS MarketWatch.

Karetnick served, for the past seven years, as an anchor, reporter and producer for Dow Jones Television, appearing on the weekly syndicated program, The Wall Street Journal Report.

Karetnick was a reporter for WBIS(plus), the Dow Jones-owned television station in New York City. In addition, she was the New York anchor for Dow Jones' daily World Market Outlook broadcasts to Europe and Asia.

CBS Newspath, a unit of CBS News, is the largest satellite news gathering network in the world. It provides a full spectrum of services for CBS affiliates to use in producing their news broadcasts. CBS Newspath is a part of each station's daily editorial process, assisting in the coordination, exchange and distribution of news from around the country and around the world.

In addition to its New York City headquarters, CBS Newspath has 16 regional offices to coordinate news services for CBS affiliates and clients. The service is recognized throughout the industry for its leadership in SNG (satellite news gathering) development.

CBS MarketWatch is the premier financial Internet supersite for the individual investor, business professional and the general public.

The service, which features reports from a team of journalists around the United States as well as leading investment professionals such as Frank Cappiello, Elaine Garzarelli, Paul Erdman and economist Irwin Kellner, is a joint venture between CBS News and Data Broadcasting Corp.(Nasdaq:DBCC) and delivers news and real-time financial data and analysis.
