DJ; RE:" Index Arbitrage "

>does it work - what's the record so far ?

There was a period after October when the DJIA was being influenced by the HangSeng, remember? The DOW would be boogy-ing along without much thought to the rest of the world and then, wham! The Honk would crash and the DOW would go, "huh?" and then it would go down, too. The DAX would follow the DOW the next day.

My technique wasn't very sophisticated - I was just learning how to trade index options at the time - but, when this chain-reaction kinda effect was going on, I would short something on the DAX at the end of our trading session for a scalping trade the next day.

Bullseye is probably right about thinking on the short side for this kind of arbitrage - I think the foreign markets are more likely to react to a big decline in the DOW than a rise.

Do you remember that famous photograph taken by the Apollo astronauts of the whole earth (it's an icon now). Well, I read an article that MonsieurGore has this hanging on his office wall; and get this - he wants to put a camera in high orbit that will beam The Earth in constant sunlight (like the famous photo) as a cable channel. Says that this, "...would have profound cultural implications" for the citizens of the world.

Would cost about the same as MonsieurStarr's Whitewater Investigation.
