Yesterday's late rally in BORL coincided, once more, with a more
vigourous rally in ORCL.

That's why I call BORL, "Oraclet" or "Baby Oracle" lately. 8^)

take care

Ghassen,

Sorry for the late reply. A lot of selling came in today, so I guess you are correct in your assertion that Borland's price rise on Monday was related to buying in other software companies. Still, Borland recovered late and held yesterday's gain.

I agree with you that Borland must post good 'tool' earnings for Q1. The symmetrical triangle (or coil as some call it) is getting perilously close to its apex, and this is never a good sign. Unfortunately, we may be stuck in this trading range until earnings, like TChai thinks. Edwards and Magee talk about occassional false downside breakouts in these circumstances which immediately reverse into upside moves. The key is high volume which results in quick reversal patterns. (A low volume breakout up or down is negative.) This is consistent with your opinion that Borland will selloff prior to earnings. Personally, I would rather Borland move up past the Bollinger Bands and approach the top boundary line. I don't like what I see, but at the same time, the stock does tend to move up on heavier volume, giving the weak positions a chance to exit. With a strong market and decent results on the enterprise side, we could have a nice surprise at the end of the month.
