NORTHVILLE, Mich., April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- OIS Optical Imaging Systems,
Inc. (Nasdaq: OVON) announced today that it has signed a production agreement
for delivery of its advanced CQ6363 High Reliability ("Hi-Rel") Active Matrix
Liquid Crystal Display (AMLCD) for use in the U.S. Army AH64 Apache
Helicopter. The CQ6363 is a new commercially available AMLCD that is
especially suited for high performance and reliability in demanding
environments.
Under the agreement announced today, OIS is to manufacture and deliver
production quantities of displays to AlliedSignal Government Electronic
Systems, in Teterboro, New Jersey. AlliedSignal will incorporate the advanced
displays in highly sophisticated instruments used in Apache Helicopters. The
CQ6363 is a high resolution full color display that will replace monochrome
cathode ray tubes. Delivery of production displays is scheduled to begin in
October 1998 and run through September 2000. The total value of displays to
be purchased by AlliedSignal will be approximately $15 million and is the
largest single production order received to date by OIS.

The CQ6363 Hi Rel display features a viewing area of 6.25 x 6.25 inches
and is capable of displaying 64 grey shades of color. The CQ6363 Hi Rel is
one of a family of products that OIS tailors to meet the requirements of harsh
environments and is considered suitable for many military applications such as
combat aircraft. AlliedSignal is a premier supplier of advanced avionics
systems to world military and commercial users.
