FRAM, stands for Ferro-electric RAM. It is also nonvolital and a prime candidate for smart cards. It's suppose to be much faster than flash. I think these chips are more durable and can have more writes. They currently have small chip size, but this should change. The patents are owned by Ramtron. They also have a competitive offering to Rambus for high end memory.

So, flash memory for auto PC's is just a disk drive alternative? What about IBM's new 1" drive that holds 400M? They claim this is a low tech drive geared for price. Aimed at camcorders, etc. Initial price point started at $200, but aiming below $100 if volume hits.

What do you see as max storage on a payable AutoPC using flash?

Do we assume flash because it is more shock resistant?
