Seth, to me, all that means is they have a big client(s) selling some large positions (or shorting). Now, if they're smart, and they've made their money (in transactions) on that end, they'll whip their clients in the other direction as soon as the wind blows and make money in the other direction. It happens all the time. It's not Volpe buying or selling... it's their clients. Don't worry, Volpe is greedy enough to be on the other side in the near future. As we near the earnings release, you'll see Volpe vanish from the offer (just my guess, of course).

Sure, that's the way the game is typically played. It would be very refreshing, however, for underwriters to just tell the damned truth! I'd like to see them give their REAL opinions about a company-- not tied to whether they do a secondary for a company. Oh well, I guess that's what makes investing such a challenge.
