I think the only likelihood of a bold outlook would be for a RIG, with only deep water exposure, or a fab with a heavy backlog, or possibly one of the service companies. I think the land drillers and those with shallow water exposure will remain cautiously optimistic.

I was wrong when I said drillers had no place to go but up. Today's IBD shows drillers' sector ranked dead last, having dropped one notch to #197 out of the 197 sectors tracked by IBD. From this cellar position there's absolutely no place to go, but up. This time I'm sure of it. Tulvio

GO NE and UCL!!
Decided to be the cheerleader for a change..<g>
Funny how people's comments are usually tailored to match their respective stock positions. That's life in the Jungle of Greed, I guess...
Have dabbled in the majors for quite some time. Out here in N.Calif, we have never stopped paying [pain] the likes of Unocal, Chevron, etc..$1.30 for a gallon of gas. Seems logical that since we are being reamed so bad by the majors, might as well take advantage of some of their profits [hopefully]. Also, now as a Unocal shareholder, I can cut those drilling budgets* & still win!
*not NE's, of course..<g>

OSX got a decent pop at the finish. OSX finished at 108.33 and less than a 1/4 point off its high for the day. Sure hope Baird is right that we have nowhere to go but up.

OSX high was 108.51
OSX low was 106.29

So we finished more than 2 points off the bottom and look to have put in a good base to move up from. BWDIK
