Contingency Planning In preparing, I have tried to find the most practical products for a reasonable price; that I can receive before the post office stops working. Here are two: Contingency Planning: Wood Stove In looking for an easy way to heat water by burning wood, I started to consider traditional wood stoves. These are not inexpensive, and require the mass of steel to be heated along with the water. I eventually found and purchased an inexpensive and extremely efficient camping wood stove from ZZ Manufacturing (800) 594-9046. gorp.com They make a compact double wall portable stove with a battery powered (1.5 volt) forced air injector fan. I tried it out and was able to boil water with a few small sticks of wood. As ZZ claims, this stove will burn anything. Some drawbacks: Workmanship is serviceable but not great. Some sharp edges on the box. Care must be taken not to cut the wire on the edge of the metal. Makes the kettle black with soot. This stove should work fine, if you don't bang it around. Contingency Planning: Water Storage For water storage, I bought a 550 gallon drinking water rated plastic storage tank form American Tank, Windsor, CA. 800-655-9100. This kind of tank should be available form many suppliers. It's later than you think.. James
