Marc, it seems to me that the MF poster is too aggressive with his Q1
estimate. Are those units shipped or estimates based on a survey that
the poster conducted? I appreciate his enthusiasm but this is not the
strongest quarter for the sector. Has he made a seasonal adjustment to
reflect that weakness? Those numbers would easily lift THQI into the
mid $30s based on conservative industry P/E comparisons.

I would be extremely pleased if THQI met the consensus estimate of
36 cents. I may even add to my position IF earnings come in line and
if Farrell makes strong forward statements during the conference
call on April 22, the day after earnings. In the meantime, $30 will
still look cheap on a P/E basis if THQI earns my mildly optimistic
estimate of 39 cents in Q1.

As far as how useful book value is as a measure of valuation (a point
brought up by Notre Dame), we have to take a trip back to early 20th
century when manufacturing was the main contributor to U.S. GDP. That
is no longer the case and the service sector now accounts for most of
U.S GDP. Book value is becoming increasingly irrelevant in our service
economy along with manufacturing. And intangibles like marketing
know-how and strategic relationships are worth a staggering 27X more
than all the tractor tires, conveyor belts and gardening tools that
Stagger Lee likes to find the prices for. Book value has shmuck value
in an information/service economy unless if you like oil and the drillers.

I would much rather look at P/E multiples and THQI's P/E is still a
staggering 5 to 10 point lower than the industry average based on
trailing earnings. I hope they trounce estimates again and again,
but I would be content with 36- 39 cents. Call me conservative. Still,
36 cents would be a mammoth achievement for THQI and give the stock
the forward momentum that it has lacked this year. So far, THQI
has definitely underperformed the indexes this year.

cheers,
Bleeker

Marc-

Those estimates sound good to me.

Okay, I know this is probably a dumb question, but when a company counts its revenues, does it count the end-consumer price or the price that it charges its retailers? Just wondering, because the prices in the MF poster's estimates are all end-consumer prices.
